God dey
Literally, God is there.
In these parts, we say God dey.
It is a statement of faith, an expression of confidence in the truth that God is there and He will be God no matter what the situation is, and everyone will see it.
Have you been cheated? God dey.
Have you been mistreated? God dey.
Have you been misunderstood? God dey.
Have problems become a mountain before you? God dey.
Have you done your honest best and the outcome does not seem like a reflection of your effort? God dey.
No matter what the situation, dear Christian, God dey.
As in, He will come and He will do what only God can do.
It’s like how one church aunty told me, “Don’t be afraid. Just don’t worry yourself. God dey! God dey!”
God dey.
